Mind, Brain, and Education(MBE)

Most educators would love to have all their students arrive at school ready to learn. Students who are cooperative, attentive, trauma -free, drug – free and have healthy brains. These young learners would brim with positive life experience and a love of learning. But such an ideal state rarely happens. To improve the odds, parents, teachers, and students need to know what to do and what to expect because every activity, every thought influences the brain.
Students who attend school from kindergarten through secondary school typically spend more than 13,000 hours of their development of brain’s time in the presence of teachers.
Since the brain is highly susceptible to environmental influences – social, physical, cognitive and emotional, therefore the child’s brain is always changing because of the experiences they have in school.
Despite the mounting evidence that supports brain- based learning, some critics remain:
- It Is No Big Deal;
- There’s Nothing New” Or,
- “We Don’t Know Enough Yet.
These critics are similar to what happened in 1903 when the Wright Brothers flew the first airplane only 100 yards.
When we teach in ways that match with how the brain is designed to learn, every student succeeds, and because all learning involves the brain, the more we understand how the brain naturally works, the better we can structure educational practices that align with brain structure and functionality.

Mind, Brain, and Education (MBE) or educational neuroscience combines various fields such as neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, and pedagogy, and educational psychology with the goal of improving teaching, learning, and education based on how the brain is organized, grows, and functions.
The more educators and parents know about the brain, the better for every child in the classroom and at home.
